The Effects ofA Group Counseling Program on Reducing the Feeling of Social Isolation of A sample of Students From the First Secondary Stage in Jordan
Abstract
The study aimed at constructing and applying a consulting program to indentify the effectiveness of this program in reducing the social isolated behaviour of a sample from the first secondary stage. Through testing the following null hypotheses: - There is no statistical significant differences in the mean scores of the experimental group in measuring the social isolation before and after applying this consulting program. - There is no statistical significant differences in the mean scores of the pre-test of the control group and the post-test inmeasuring the social isolation. - There is no statistical significant differences in the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in measuring the social isolation after applying the program. For achieving the aims of the study, an instrument was constructed to measure the social isolation . Validity and Reliability were approved. The sample consists of (40) students who were distributed into two equal groups; experimental group and control group. The consulting program was prepared to deal with the purposes of the study. It was applied on the experimental group, where 16th sessions were held with (2) sessions weekly and for one hour for each session for the Acadimic year 200412005. The results indicated that the consulting program showed a clear effect in reducing the behavior of social isolation of the students. The two researchers recommended that a consulting program should be applied on other high secondary schools.
