إن عقد النقل البحري للبضائع منظم في القانون البحري القطري رقم 15 لسنة 1980 من المادة 143-167. بقراءة النصوص الخاصة بعقد النقل البحري للبضائع؛ يتضح أن نطاق تطبيقها ينحصر فقط على الوثيقة التي تثبت عقد النقل البحري للبضائع والتي يطلق عليها "سند الشحن". لذلك، يعد النطاق الوثائقي محدودًا على سندات الشحن ولا ينطبق على وثائق أخرى تثبت وجود عقد نقل بحري. تهدف هذه الورقة إلى بيان مدى تماشي توجه المشرع فيما يتعلق بالنطاق الوثائقي لنصوص عقد النقل البحري للبضائع مع الاتفاقيات الدولية المعنية بالنقل البحري للبضائع. النطاق الوثائقي الحالي في القانون البحري القطري لا يتفق والاتجاه الدولي الذي يوسع من النطاق الوثائقي ليشمل جميع الوثائق التي تثبت عقد النقل البحري للبضائع بغض النظر عن طبيعتها.
