Family Counseling: Its Importance, Islamic Rulings, and Practical Examples.

Abstract
The study a1ms at demonstrating the importance of family consultation in establishing and maintaining family accord and stability; as well as illustrating how Islam evinced keen interest in this question. Furthermore, its aims at showing the standards and rules governing the family consultation and its role in achieving a wide range of social goals, which can, in turn, contribute to the control of some negative phenomena that threaten the family entity and its values, and may lead to destructive and adverse outcomes on society at large, as the functional family is the cornerstone of a sound life as it is the foundation of an integrate~ society. The study used the inductive reasoning through the reading of the relevant sacred texts of revelation (i.e. Quran and Hadith); it also used the analytic approach for analysis and interpretation of those texts; and finally, the deductive reasoning which was used to deduct and apply the educational implications and directives derived from those sacred texts. Conclusion: The Islamic law stressed the importance of the family consultation, which formed a major task for the prophets' (Peace be upon them), scholars, and reformers, due to its paramount importance in solidifying intrafamily relationships and strengthening mutual love among family members. Moreover, it is considered imperative for the family in cases of accord and discord, breastfeeding and weaning, and in marriage and divorce.
