Abstract

counselor. The study was conducted on random sample of 110 male and female Kuwaiti citizens who benefited from the psychological services and dealt with counselors during regular counseling sessions. A scale was modified for validity and reliability, and after its implementation pertinent findings revealed the existence of an exceedingly positive image. Majority of the sample group reflected a positive image about the counselors (75.6 to 98.2% of the respondents). Those who expressed a negative image ranged from 1-5 respondents, while a range of 1-24 respondents reflected an unidentifiable image. Moreover, the study revealed that a positive image of the counselors was more evident for males than females, for the older ones and those with a higher education level, in comparison to those who were younger and with a lower level of education. ge scale did not differ according to the the same variables showed variation in scores on the scale, mostly apparent in the interaction between both variables of age and marital status where bachelors aged between thirty and less than forty years were found to be the most expressive respondents of a positive image of counselors. Likewise, interaction between variables of age and income varied, where respondent aged between thirty and less than forty years with high income expressed a positive image of counselors. The current study findings are dependable and indicate that a negative mental image does not represent any challenge for counseling services, according to the views of those who benefited from such services.
