The Prophetic Tradition and Explaining Scientific Facts
Abstract
This research endeavors to study Sunnah and investigation of scientific truths. It discusses the debate raised on scientific interpretation. It hinges upon the analytical deductive method. The study concludes that baseless claims on the scripture are the critical problems that occur with scientific interpretations. The study maintains that presenting the basic understandings of the Arab who were addressed by the Sunnah is an indispensible condition so that any interpretation falls without its limits and usual boundaries cannot be allowed. According to Majority's school, a Sunnah when established by authentic ways of narration will take effect and does not need supports from otherwise sources. However, to some scholars a Hadith should not contradict evident rational proofs. The study maintains that a Hadith cannot be nullified nor can be refuted based on speculative scientific investigations. Contrarily, if the scientific investigation is decisive and the Hadith does not admit to an acceptable interpretation, then the definitive evidence prevails over the speculative one in incidence of the conflict.
