الملخص

باستخدام منهجية كيو(Q methodology)، هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى فحص ما إذا كان 49 طالبًا من طلاب الصفين التاسع والعاشر في المدارس الحكومية في قطر يواجهون ما يُعرف بمصطلح "مشكلة الفتيان"، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بتعلم مواد العلوم والتكنولوجيا والهندسة والرياضيات (STEM) والتوجه نحو المهن ذات الصلة. تمثّل الهدف العام في إبراز سرديات الطلبة حول أدائهم الأكاديمي وتطلعاتهم المهنية المستقبلية، فضلًا عن الكشف عن كيفية عيشهم وفهمهم وتفاوضهم مع عالمهم الاجتماعي داخل الصف الدراسي وخارجه. أسفر التحليل عن أربعة عوامل، يعكس كلٌّ منها منظورًا متمايزًا بشأن رغبة الطلاب في تعلم مجالات STEM والتوجه نحو العمل في مهن مرتبطة بها. وقد سُمّيت هذه العوامل على النحو الآتي: (1) لا توجد مشكلة كبيرة، بل مجموعة من المشكلات الصغيرة؛ (2) المشكلة تتجاوز محاولات الإقناع؛ (3) المشكلة معقّدة؛ و(4) لنصل إلى جذور المشكلة. تشير النتائج إلى أن "مشكلة الفتيان" لا يمكن اختزالها في عامل تفسيري واحد، بل تنشأ من تفاعل الممارسات المدرسية والتوقعات الاجتماعية والتصورات الفردية. وبناء عليه، ركّز النقاش على ثلاثة خطابات مهيمنة تؤطر تجارب الفتيان التعليمية، وهي: (1) المدارس المُخفِقة، (2) الفتيان الضحايا، و(3) سيظل الفتيان فتيانًا.
