Performance Competencies of Female Faculty Members at Umm Al-Qura University as Perceived by Female Students
Abstract
This study was conducted to identify the actual use of four aspects of performance competency by female faculty members: personality, teaching techniques, classroom management, and evaluation from the point of view of the fourth year under graduated female students during the second semester 2002/2003. The study sample (735 female students) filled out questioner, which had two parts: the primary data and the five points scale to measure actual use of four aspects of performance competency of the faculty members. The scale items included the most important aspects competency, which are required from the university faculty members. These (62) items are classified along four, aspects. Data were processed statistically by using The Statistical Package of Social Sciences SPSS . Results indicated that Umm Al-Qura female faculty members were seen as using the four aspects of performance competency to average degree. There were significant differences in the responses of the study sample members of different colleges toward actual use of the performance competency by female faculty members; with the respect to the aspects of personality, teaching techniques, and evaluation. In addition, the levels of use of the performance competency was significantly related to each of the others. The study included a number of recommendations and suggestions, which may help in raising performance levels among university faculty members.
