Obstacles of Scientific Research in Mu'ta University and ways to upgrade it from the perspective of the teaching staff members
Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the major obstacles which hinder the scientific research in Mu ta university. In addition, the study aimed at specifying the effective ways Which could upgrade the forementioned scientific research. In order to achieve the goal of the study, two questionnaires were distributed to all second term 2004- 2005 faculty members: The questionnaires consisted of (60) itens, (30) items each. One questionnaire was related· to the obstacles, and the other to the upgrading suggestions. (154) faculty members responded to these questionnaires. The means, standard deviations were concluded, and t-test was used. The results of the study showed that there were major obstacles such as the weak link between scientific research and the society productive foundations, and the reluctance of decision makers in applying the research fmdings. The results alsd showed that there are statistical differences between the scientific colleges and the human ones to the favor of the latest. Besides, the respondents agreed upon the upgrading suggestions cited on the relevant questionnaire. In the light of the study findings the researcher proposed some recommendations, most important of which are: • Linking the scientific research at Mu'ta University with the productive foundations' needs. • Providing the requirements of the scientific research. • Focusing on the quality ofresarch in the academic ranks. • Allocating enough budget for the scientific research.
