Abstract

This research aims to apply interdisciplinary studies in a new field of contemporary critical approaches, which are widely spread in Western universities, and we do not find them present in Arab critical studies, especially environmental criticism, which has become one of the contemporary critical approaches that help researchers understand the relationship of literature to nature. Accordingly, we chose to reveal this approach by studying a Qatari novel that attempts to establish an environmental awareness within the novel, at a time when the Arab novel did not pay much attention to such narrative topics. The writing in the environmental novel is still recent, but we found the Qatari narrative in its infancy making the environment its main theme, and this is what we found in the writings of the Qatari novelist Dalal Khalifa, especially in her studied novel (Duniana... Festival of Days and Nights), as we will approach it through important research points. , with the intention of answering a systematic question raised by the novel, which is: How did the Qatari novelist become aware of environmental problems? In addition, the extent to which he was able, through novelist experimentation, to understand these new issues within his narrative work? Here lies the importance of the research and its achieved results.
